In the reverse, the word ‘hamsa’ is derived from joining of the words ahaM + saH and represents the Jivatman/ individual soul. These two words sohaM and haMsa are the same with reversed phonemes representing pranayama (breathing process) where one starts with the inhalation and the other with exhalation. Taken together, these words sohaM + haMsa = sohaMsa and refers to the merging of the Jivatman and Paramatman…and that alone is the real goal of Jyotisa or Vedic Astrology. Every other seemingly significant objective is only another milestone for this goal.

Jaimini Scholar Program
The Jaimini Scholar Program is an advanced Jyotisha course in the practice and teaching of the Upadesha Sutras of Maharishi Jaimini, personally taught by Pandit Sanjay Rath to a selected group of students in the Himalayan foothills of India over a 5 year period from 2007 to 2011. Sanjay has said that he will be teaching the Maharishi Jaimini Sutra Course once, and once only, and so Jaimini Scholars have a huge responsibility as custodians of this profound and precious knowledge, both to ourselves and to our students, to ensure that this knowledge remains pure. History has shown repeatedly how knowledge becomes distorted and impure with the long lapse of time, but now thanks to the Digital Age, we have recordings and slides of Sanjay’s teachings for eternity.

Certification
Those Jaimini students who have attended the complete 5 year residential courses and have been personally approved by Sanjay will be awarded formal certification as a Jaimini Scholar. Certificates will be printed, laminated and posted to you from the UK, where Jaimini Scholar Steve Hubball will be in charge of issuing certificates and keeping detailed records of all qualified Jaimini Scholars, and all future Jaimini Scholars of The Parampara who study under certified Jaimini Scholars. Therefore, it is the responsibility of every Jaimini Scholar that you forward your own personal details to Steve – your name as you wish it to appear on your certificate, address, telephone, email, photo and birth data. There will be a small charge for printing, laminating, postage and packaging.

Evolving Parampara and Future Student Certification
Those Jaimini Scholars that have been certified and approved personally by Sanjay will be eligible to teach the Jaimini Scholar Program to their own students. After successful course completion, assessment and recommendation, these students will then also be certified as Jaimini Scholars. Therefore, it is essential that we have an accurate record of all those students who belong to our Parampara, and as those students take students themselves, the whole Parampara will grow to spread the light of Jyotish to the world. This is Sanjay’s mission. Therefore, every Jaimini Scholar who is teaching must forward to Steve personal details of their students (name, address, telephone, email, birth data, photo, start and completion dates). In addition, to become a fully certified Jaimini Scholar, one needs to complete all four/five years of study (all four adhyaya) under a registered/certified Jaimini Scholar. Certification will not be extended to those who have not received direct training from a certified Jaimini Scholar, nor to those students who only complete part of the course. In this way, the purity of The Tradition will be upheld, and all fully certified and approved Jaimini Scholars will be listed on the website with their own personal profile.
