Objectives

The Parāśara Jyotiṣa Course (PJC) is to be taught in the tradition of Puri, India and includes spiritual instructions to develop the mind in order to grasp the entire subject. The student is to develop a keen understanding of Vedic astrology and will master all the śloka of Bṛhat Parāśara Horā Śāstra (BPHS).
The syllabus primarily includes the jyotiṣa classic Bṛhat Parāśara Horā Śāstra as available today. The various chapters are grouped into 28 topics to be covered in four years for the certification as Jyotiṣa Paṇḍita.
This is the sixth batch of PJC Students, the first being mentored by Pt. Sanjay Rath, second by Dr. Andrew Foss and third by Sarbani Rath.

Description

The course for each academic year of the Parāśara Jyotiṣa Course shall formally commence from Meṣa saṅkrānti (about 16 April) and shall be taught online. Based on their convenience the mentors may decide to have monthly webinars and/or contact classes for some parts of the course.

Mentors

pjc2017
DBC offers a choice of two mentors for this PJC Batch – (a) Mariella Cassar for the West and (b) Sarbani Rath for East. A broad division of areas is indicated above. Applicants are free to choose their mentor based on their proximity and comfort.

  • Devaguru Bṛhaspati Center has opened admissions for fresh batch of students to start its prestigious Parāśara Jyotiṣa Course from the Academic Year 2017.
  • Unlike other colleges where the application is generic, DBC requires that the student should be accepted by a mentor for learning vedāñga jyotiṣa.
  • A mentor is a jyotiṣa guru who will guide you through the course. Unlike previous years where one mentor was available, in 2017 the mentors are (a) Mariella Cassar for West and (b) Sarbani Rath for East. Please see this page for a better idea.
  • Students can enroll by simply paying the fees to the mentor

jaimini500When we taught the Upadeśa Sūtra of Maharṣi Jaimini in a course (Jaimini Scholar Program 2007-11), there were just a few students from India. Of these three scholars formed a group and taught the course in the Himalayas to a dozen students who will be graduating as scholars in 2017. Hopefully some of them will take the certification viva-voce and qualify as Jaimini Scholars and an even fewer number will qualify as JSP teachers. Certification is done by an independent board of scholar-teachers headed by Steve Hubball. Please visit www.jaiminisutra.com for detailed information in this regard.

JSP 2017

With the aim of preparing another batch of scholar-teachers of the Upadeśa Sūtra, we have decided to teach the Jaimini Scholar Program once again. Unlike the first time when all classes were taken by Pt. Sanjay Rath, this time it will be taught by a team of scholars in the Himalayas. The team includes Sarbani Rath and Ajay Zharotia. In future, we may add other scholars to this team.

Take a look at the website for the course www.upadesasutra.com

Each year is basically one adhyāya of the Upadeśa Sūtra, except the 3rd adhyāya that is studied in two academic years – year3 and 4.

Traditional Method

The sūtra are taught in the oral tradition in the Himalayas and attendance is compulsory. We are not going to have any video-conferencing or such lectures. Classes commence at 8am and continue till 5pm ending with recitation of Vedic Hymns. It may seem impossible to do such hectic studies, but believe me, this feeling is wrong as hundreds of students have studied in this vedic pattern for the last decade through both JSP as well as PJC. You too will automatically fit into this.

One of the worries is what if you cannot attend one of the five-academic years of JSP in the Himalayas. We have contingency plans which include having private tuition with a Jaimini Scholar to cover the missed portions of the JSP. However, this can entail a small additional cost to the scholar-teacher which is to be paid directly. Normally this does not exceed ₹2000 per hour.

suryaWe have been getting umpteen complaints that one Mr. Rajat Kapoor of Delhi has been posing as a bonafide Jyotish Guru of SJC and later when he was exposed, he is now selling materials obtained from theft by hacking the websites of Pt. Sanjay Rath, SoHamsa, Parasara Jyotish Course and the Jaimini Scholar Program. The Public is hereby warned to report any material received from him as this is stolen from SJC/allied offices websites. Matter is currently under investigation. If anyone has any further information, you are requested to send this to sarbani.rath@srijagannath.org
Erstwhile students and Jyotish Guru’s of SJC, please be warned.

Open Letter to Rajat Kapoor http://parijaata.com

Dear Bala Rupa Dasa aka Rajat Kapoor,
It has come to my attention that you are not only using mine and Rafał Gendarz names to support you astrology business, but that you are claiming to have learned and are continually learning the Jaimini Sutras from me! Considering that you have not even learned the 1st year of Jaimini from me, and solely attained slides, which were purposely fabricated to avoid people like you stealing them, I think that is highly optimistic of you!

It has further come to my attention that you are going to be teaching a new course soon! Knowing that the sole source of your information and knowledge are the teachings of Sanjay Rath, whom you have disrespected by trying to steal copyrighted slides and recordings from, or trick knowledge out of his students, this message serves to ensure that anyone interacting with you are not fooled.

I hereby denounce any linkage to you. You are not a student of mine, nor of any teacher of Sri Jagannātha Centre, Deva Guru Bṛhaspati Centre, or courses on the the Jaimini Sutras, or allied organisations, nor will you be. You are not to use the name of Sanjay Rath, Visti Larsen, nor any teacher designated by Sanjay Rath. Nor are you to gain access to any of the courses, knowledge, or anything of the likes.

If you use or replicate any of the material provided by Sanjay Rath in the Jaimini Course, you will be subject to legal action.
If you replicate any material on any online source your website, blogs, etc. it will be subject to a DMCA Take Down.

You have had one year to clean up your act, and instead you are consistently lying and attempting to steal content from courses which are a source of livelihood for others.

This message will be reposted.

Sincerely, Visti Larsen

WEEDING OUT FRAUD ASTROLOGERS, LOOTING UNSUSPECTING PEOPLE
topic posted Fri, November 4, 2011 – 9:30 PM
Dear ALL:

A self proclaimed “great astrologer” RAJAT KAPOOR is a complete FRAUD!

(MOST OF MATERIAL in his “readings” and on his website/ blog IS COPY PASTED AND HENCE PLAGIARIZED FROM OTHER SOURCES AND LEGAL PROCEEDINGS WILL SOON FOLLOW FROM THE ORIGINAL AUTHORS OF MUCH OF COPY PASTED MATERIAL HERE)

Do NOT bother spending any of your time or money with him!!

He claims to have knowledge of this of that, most of it is completely false.
On website Jyotish.tribe.net, he was exposed for shamelessly propagating his own website.
here is the website: parijaata.wordpress.com/
He claims to unsuspecting people that the chart requires “Serious remedies” and it is a very “serious situation”
Then he posts some very basic predictions which just :”sound” complicated to impress people that he very knowledgable.

I have personally given him 3 different questions about me, my friend and my family member all of whom had some problems.
He was incorrect in 99% of the readings. even the correct 1% were completely generic and not even predictions.

He is falsely glorifying his inadequate knowledge and experience and wants to make quick money.

He has recently hijacked some free public websites like jyotish.tribe.net to shamelessly propagate his own “Blog” where he copy pastes computer outputs to gain futher “Paid” readings from unsuspecting people who are suffering in some form in life and gain money from them

KEEP AWAY and SPREAD the WORD!!

Lets root out evil, greedy, selfish people like Mr Rajat Kapoor who are shamelessly propagating their own cause to extract money from people!! There is nothing wrong in making money as an astrologer if you deserve it, HOWEVER, shameless self propagation is un-ethical, immoral and completely un-acceptable behavior!

SPREAD THE WORD!!!

His Guru’s Views
Dear Rajat, Namaste

You are writing in sarcastic mood (about Sri Jagannath Centre school) in Jyotish_Remedies Yahoogroup as follows:
– “The reason behind the denial is very much bcoz of the astrological community where most of principles were stolen by certain “Renowned” astrologers without giving the credit to the person who really invented the principle”
– “Very true!! Europe has done this in a big way. Few Indian astrologers too and the worst thing is that they shamelessly talk about Copyright Laws and they themself break the Copyright Laws. The only benefit they get is that in our country, many astrologers are there who don’t want to come in limelight. I know lots of astrologers who predict even the date of events but they don’t want to come in public and just doing the sadhana of Jyotish.
You will be amazed to know that C S Patel ji was badly hurt by use of his material and principles, that he didn’t write any book for more than 30 years. Lot of Arudha principles which are said to be invented/ found by certain astrologers (I will not name them but most of the people will understand what I’m saying) were stolen by them. One European Astrologer met Patel ji once and took his notes of Nadi principles of Patel ji and now it is a part of his own findings”.

You are referring to stealing things &copyright? I was keeping silent through most of your messages, but when you start to criticize others and refer to copyright issues, I cant keep silent, as this is not only absurd but also kind of evil.

I want to warn others against you.

90% of rules you are using – like this –

“Remedies to this is to chant “Om Namo Bhagvate Rudraya” and “Om Hram Ghrinih Varunaya Namah”

– are based on what I taught you (so coming from Śri Jagannath Centre) in time you were my student, few other parts are based on Visti Larsen articles/lectures and Sanjay Rath’s books.

These people are coming from the tradition you are constantly criticizing. You do it presumably as reaction for exposing your actions regarding astrology and your way of marketing.

To the rules taugth in the line of Sanjay Rath you are adding few other sources/references (including Saptarishi authors) to present yourself as original inventor or as if you are not using the Sri Jagannath Center knowledge. Criticizing indirectly the source of 90% of your astrological knowledge you use in chart readings is quite absurd in light of fact that you:

have tried to lead the Astro-Course based on the slides taken from the first year of Jamini Sutra taught by Visti Larsen (see the link below for more details), in the line of Sanjay Rath, without refering to the source, and without allowance and demanded quallifications
you have put on your site the articles which were PURELY copied from other sources, you never gave these sources which suggested these are your articles, Me and Vistiji have contacted you many times to change your approach, but you never did
you have copied on your site, 70% of my site, including Consultations services, Biography etc, now after Visti Larsen published the ‘Open Letter to Rajat Kapoor’ you have changed it

For those who are unknown about the issue, please see the open letter written by Visti Larsen, student of Sanjay Rath: http://www.srigaruda.com/index.php/en/component/content/article/1-latest-news/217-open-letter-to-rajat-kapoor
